EVENTS
WiCS Organizes a variety of different events for our members. Below are the four different types of events we typically arrange. If you are a WiCS member, part of Tufts faculty, or a company representative interested in something different, do not hesitate to reach out by contacting one of our eboard members or one of our social media pages.
Typically involves a smaller group, where people sit in a circle and are able to discuss with company representatives in a Q&A fashion. Professionals have the opportunity to discuss their career path and their passions. One of our events last semester was a Lunch and Learn with Carbon Black that included sushi!
Lunch and Learns
Technical workshops allow students an opportunity to learn in a hands-on way. Company representatives often teach a larger crowd, provide materials for learning, and allow students to learn with no background knowledge necessary. We recently had our "Build your own website with GoDaddy" workshop.
Workshops
Tech Talks are lecture style events focusing on a particular technological topic, field, or role. Typically, a tech talk will last 30-45 minutes and will be followed by a Q&A session. Last semester, MIT Lincoln Labs talked about their dark web scraping and cooperation with DARPA for the MEMEX platform, and Slalom Build did a talk on the product manager role.
Tech Talks
Social Events include activities like drinking Boba together, watching movies as a group, etc. Students meet each other and talk about their interests and ideas in a more relaxed setting. These events are usually not attended by company representatives or Tufts faculty.
